Settings

There are two settings that can be configured in GDocsDrive. The first is the “File upload setting”. You can decide whether uploaded documents will be converted to Google Docs formats by checking the box.

It is important to have a clear understanding of this feature. Converting to Google Docs formats enables more operations on the file, such as online editing and exporting to different formats. However, it will also cause the uploaded file to lose its original format. So if your main purpose is to backup your files, you should probably keep their original formats by unchecking the “Convert…” box. If you want to be able to edit the file and collaborate online, checking this box is required.

The second setting is related to automatic updates. Enabling this setting will make GDocsDrive check for new updates every time it starts up. We recommend you keep this setting enabled to help GDocsDrive get the latest updates as soon as possible.
